The problem with Authority

Post by Roelen » 25 Feb 2016, 12:16

I noticed that if 1 pt of authority gets you 2.5 tiles of claim, and you get 1 pt per day, people will need to wait 7 days to have enough tiles for a tiny shack, the smallest, cheapest building in the game. Guilds will not be able to form until a whole 60 days after servers come up. So basically the first 2 months will be getting starter tools, leveling all the non building skills, and solo play? This won't bode well for the game, many will quit, builders have nothing to do (anything they make will be destroyed and repair kits are too expensive to justify anything below a large keep) and having no guilds will cause chaos across the server. My suggestion is that we are able to sacrifice craft skill points when making our character to get authority points. That way guild leaders can make guilds, and not everyone has a 60 authority right away.

im assuming you have yet to place a monument? once you do there is more than enough "claim" for several small shacks, then it expands x amount of tiles after x amount of days as long as your support points is higher than your maint points.

just build your monument you'll be fine.

Authority is a skill, which currently can be raised by practicing it. So players should claim something, then un-claim it, then claim it again.

Unless there is something new that came out that I missed (which is always possible) I have not seen anything that limits personal claim growth to daily cycles.
