Server problem with new update

Post by Halvdal » 29 Apr 2016, 13:00

Hey Guys,

it seems that your new update fucked everything. There are no more servers online and our rented and dedicated server doesn't update by itself.

An we all got INVALID VERSION as an error message. Both are updated (Servers and clients).

Greetings

i mean u should first check if u can connect to available servers , if so than your client is fine and u have to look at your server, in wich case a reinstall might be needed/desired (bhut euh dont quote me on this!!!)
see if u can get something going whitouwth reinstalling first (and not fucking anythign up eather)
perhaps a setting accidently changed somehow...

If you have played in beta branch, make sure to switch from beta branch to release.

nearly empty means that the other servers are stil updating and that they are slowely getting up to date,
can u join any of those servers and get ingame?

My server was missing a .dll file which stopped it from starting, ended up getting the server provider to fix it.

They´re not slowly but even Serveradmins sometimes just have to work for their Money.

Ok for most of us running dedicated servers using Steam.Cmd and Lif_update.cmd files the new patch did create issues so the game won't start.

after I exported my database via Heidi Sql using the export command and making sure I included all the database files in that export I ran my lif_update.cmd file. When I started my server back up in fire daemon I noticed that though it said it was running there was no cpu usage happening so I knew my server wasn't actually connected.

Here is what I had to do to fix it. Steam is not installing the updated Microsoft C++ runtime applications needed to start the game. Many of you, like me do not have access to steam/steamapps/ folders or the actual steam client to be able to get to your files. My server runs directly from c and my steam app runs from a steamcmd folder.

Go to Microsoft and download Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 I have a 64 bit server so I had to download both versions of visual studio x86 and 64. Install them and find and make copies of MSVCP140.dll and MSVCR140.dll and paste them into your lif folder. I also had to find online and download msvcr120 and msvcp120.dll and add them to my lif folder.

Once I did that I had to make the changes needed to worldid_1 to name my server because those files were replaced I had to change the World_config file to point to my Lif_1 db for maria. I had to make a new ini file for maria and change my.ini the innodb line to Lif_1 in my game folder. I had to re-add the password to local_config make a copy of that file and put it in my main lif folder and then I had to go one step further before I could get my game to start. My sql would not run so I went to add and remove programs and hit the uninstall for maria and selected repair which stopped and restarted all my services for maria and the game. Then I deleted the old database out of Heidi and remade my sql connections and Lif_1 db then I imported the file I exported earlier into a query tab and ran the query my server started. After that was done I went back to my LIF folder for the game right clicked on the startup and created a shortcut right clicked that and added the - worldID_1 command at the end of the exec script and then readded the service to fire daemon and my world was back. I hope this helps those of you who like me only have steamcmd and lif_updatecmd to work with. If you need more specific help feel free to message me.
