weapon balance

Post by vukodlac » 25 Aug 2016, 14:16

Hello , im make medieval fighting and when i see some weapon comparaison , i become mad....

Why a 1 handed sword hit more hard than a polarm ....... its not normal ....

Every weapon class need to have is own specifity ...

The more fast weapon is the 2 handed sword and bastard sword... its the most balanced , and the 2 handling give a super control of the weapon .

After that come the 1h weapon... with the SAME damage , maybe a bit lower , but i promess you hit very hard with a 1h but its more difficult to interupt a hit with only 1hand ... cause its 80% of the weight of an 2h, on only 1hand .

2H axe and mace is more easy to control cause good arm positioning on the pole , but its heavy and hard to interupt , the domage is obviously more important than 2h sword , and axe and mace décay hard the ennemie gear ...

Polarm is a more long and heavy form of 2h axe... that was a LONG pole , more than a 2h sword , with a blade or an axe , the size of the pole make the weapon very hard to control and swing , so its a SLOW weapon , more slow than all other , but the kinetic strengh of impact is HUGE !

... so for me , the fastest weapon is 2h sword , the slowest polearm

The strongest is Polarm , the weakest is 1h sword

and you need to add a new fighting mecanics , the weapon control ... when you have an heavy and uncontrolable weapon like a 1h heavy mace , if you miss your target , you havent oppisition to your hit , and your strike going to continue , making a long long long long rearm effort ...

So that give interest to more light weapon , to rearm more fast when you miss an hit .

The shield need to be uses as a secondary weapon.... seriously all small shield is used to bash the ennemie and blinding him ...

But in priority plz , balance weapon ...

actualy all weapon have the same size , 2h / spear / polarm , no difference ....

And only 2 - 3 weapon is usable cause of broken balacing .

if you want an idee ....

name - damage on naked - attack speed - control/interupt difficulty - range

1hand sword damage 40 - speed 4 - control 4 - range 3
2hand sword damage 50 - speed 5 - control 5 - range 4

1hand axe/mace damage 50 - speed 4 - control 3 - range 2
2hand axe/mace damage 70 - speed 4 - control 3 - range 4

Spear damage 30 - speed 5 - control 5 - range 6
Pike damage 50 - speed 3 - control 3 - range 8

Blade Polarm damage 70 - speed 3 - control 3 - range 6
Axe Polarm damage 90 - speed 3 - control 2 - range 5

1h sword is the most easy and balanced weapon , they allow a shield to protect your self , or bash your ennemie .

1h axe is a more heavy form of 1 handed weapon, its well balanced but a bit short ... but if you mastering it , that can work well

2h sword , a bit more heavy than a 1h , but with 2h , that give a huge control and manoeuvrability , and bit more power strike, a very well balanced 2hand weapon .

2h axe & mace , all the weight is at the extremity of the weapon so we loose speed and control , but the kinetic strengh is here and that give more damage when you strike .

spear is just famous , a long wood staff with a very light métal sharped spike , very light weapon , but very long .... its not always easy to control a so long staff and that work only in piercing ...

pike is amazing long supporting spear , i dont need to explain why its hard to control , the métal head is more large and heavy to raise up the stop effect .

Blade polarm , naginata pudao and many bladed polarm give the adventage in size from the blade size .... imagine 2kg of blade at the extremity of 2meter staff... imagine the shit control xD but the huge kinetic power of this weapon !

Axe polarm , you imagine a woodcuting axe , but with 2m handle , hard to raise up , but fuck hell when you fall on the ennemie head , that crush him !

That is what i want see on lif ...
