Writing server logs to a different location

Post by Rpgmoods » 02 Jan 2015, 14:29

Hello, I have been running a server for a number of months now. It has been growing in popularity since the start and is now built up pretty well.

My DB has ballooned up over 160MiB (which is something else i would like to lean how to clean up) and we are starting to experience some long load times both for clients and for rebooting the server (takes around 15 to 17 min to boot up now)

I am tossing the idea around about buying some SSD space for my server to try and improve those load times a bit.
Is there a way to tell the server to write logs to a separate location as to not fill the SSD with txt. My server logs get ridiculously large in a very short amount of time and the SSD space is not cheap.

Also, should i consider installing MariaDB on the SSD as well? If so is there any configuration changes to make on it?

Thanks in advance for any help.
