Diminishing returns on Skill Points for certain actions

I know this is the early stages of the game and all but i'm not entirely sure if this devs had this on their checklist or not

I see it's fairly common for people to craft millions of Mortar and Pestle's and what not to increase a certain skill.

Would it not make sense to add a diminishing return on the skill points you receive for crafting a certain object over and over? Not only does this make sense in a practical sense, but it also disencourages grinding.

The very nature of the skill point system is diminishing returns. You won't get the same point gain at 30 as you got at 0.

No you missed the point ^ he meant diminshing returns on grinding the same item over and over again. Not the idea of as you rise in level the XP becomes harder to gain. He just said he doesn't like the cheap quick ways to get from 0-100 by repeating the same action 1000 times.

For them to implement diminishing returns per-action, they'd need to have a LOT more possible actions at any given time for any given skill.

As it is, if you've never tried leveling construction on an x1 skill multiplier server, just go ahead and try it. From 0, it takes a few *hundred* wattle fences before you can even get the recipe for something that can be finished without the procurement skill.

A few hundred fences is a few THOUSAND branches. It's hard enough and takes more than enough time just gathering those branches without having to deal with diminishing returns on your wattle fences, and being forced to build what would be thousands of them just to get skill level 15 to build (or work on) forges.

Some things do need to be more balanced. You should NOT get as much skill xp for making a mortar and pestle as you would for making a shaped rock. It should be based on the number of resources that go into it. Thus, mortar and pestle would be 1/10 the exp of the shaped rock.

The diminishing returns system already in place more than accounts for the OP's complaint, with a few exceptions here and there that need rebalanced.
