Drowning in 2 seconds

Post by Worsin » 26 Sep 2015, 23:34

Since this is still pre release ill put this in suggestions.

Just now i thought to myself "Hey ill go in the water for a min"

I wade out with my head above water and BAM...YOUR DEAD.

I literally drowned in 2 seconds with my head above water still.

This is either a bug or really bad mechanics for swimming. Dying instantly when the stamina meter runs out is just dumb. Everyone knows you can hold your breath for about 30-60 seconds or even longer depending on the person.

I suggest a separate meter for breath like every other game in the world

How doesn't it make sense ? If you run out of energy, you can't get out of water without help, and you just drown at some point, no matter how long you can hold your breath. Breath that won't be easy to hold after spending all your energy trying to stay afloat.

What equipment were you wearing ? You should be able to swim for a while without anything heavy on.

Your inventory weight also seems to be a decent factor in this.
If you're carrying 300 stones worth of stuff, then yes you'll die within 2 seconds.

Just try swimming with nothing in your inventry at all and you'll see how long you can last. Just make sure your stamine never gets fully depleted and you can easily swim long distances.

as they'll implement boats (planned for very near release), it seems legit you cannot swim with a full load of rocks x)

I dont have a problem drowning if im encumbered, my point is that it happens in 2 seconds and i dont even have the opportunity to try and walk back to shore.

If you have a ball and chain attached to your feet and your thrown into the ocean you dont drown in 2 seconds.

Im my case i was only 20 feet from the shore so i could have made it back easily if it wasnt so fast.

whit a ball and chain u wil indeed not drown in 2 seconds, youl be pulled under and drown in 30seconds. bhut your dead eather way.

i do agree this issue should be approachd bhut only in such way that u cant start swimming when your encumbered.
than u can walk from the shore into the ocean and start drowning when u walk to far (this one sounds weard) , and when u get thrown off a boat or something u stil drown.
