is it possible to "export" a personal server (savegame) ??

Post by Hyperserver » 10 Oct 2014, 11:22

Hi there,

is there a possibility to "export" a personal server?

I mean - if a friend "hosts" a game private on his computer with several others playing together and he is away for few weeks - how to keep on playing for the others?
Going to host the game on a stable permanent windows server will cost way too much for this is just in BETA.
All the Characters and the whole world is saved on the "hosters" PC.

Is there a way to "copy" this settings and transfer it to another player of that group so that they are able to continue playing? Or they all depend on the return of the original hoster?

If its possible to "transfer" the "savegame" pls tell me exactly how to do...

thanks, yours Hyperserver

PS:
VERY nice game.. pls hardly keep on finishing this game (polish and getting the missed things [for example Skills, potions etc] into the game)

Yes it can be exported. If you're wanting to run it using the actual LiF dedicated server then things get a bit trickier but there are a number of guides for setting that up here on the forums and on the steam forums.

The gist of it is that you will be copying all of the MariaDB daemon data out of the game install folder of the person who is currently hosting. This data is then carefully copied onto the dedicated server into a standalone MariaDB setup. A few config changes will need to be made to dedicated server files and off you go.

Hope that helps :)

thx for answering...

but we dont want to setup a dedicated server - we both have the client-in server game from steam ....

we just tried copy mariaDB folder - without success

we search for some kind of "savegame" to send from A to B without setting up a dedicated server
