I like some help from Dev

Post by Asimov » 24 Nov 2015, 13:14

After the release of the game and the mining given "free", my server we have a lot of lag. And the lag reminds me very much of the lag on servers before the release, that did not use infinity piles.

There is less lag when there is only 30 people on, but when the server is full, it is so much lag that people are complaining that PvP is impossible.

So i like some advice on how get the lag away. Not reduce it like with the animal count, since animal count was not a problem before release, and i guess it is not a problem now either. I wont the lag to go away, even if i have to make it a 32 player server.

Since very few people complains about it in this forum, my naive guess is, that we are one of the few servers with the problem, that is why i guess it should be no problem given me advice on it.

If you have a server running with 64 players without lag, then i would very much like to visit it to have a look on what is the secret to make it run smooth.

Thanks in advanced

We haven't received too many reports about such lags. There's a chance that it's your hosting provider fault. Where are you hosting your server?

Just a tip, if your Hosting provider doesn't have your server running on SSDs, it most likely will have lag issues at 64 people. we got our provider to upgrade the server due t the lag on the DX9 version and it made a world of difference.

I'm thinking this game writes an insane amount to the disk.

We are hosting at Bluefang Solutions and running at SSD

We do use the tree script, but yes we do have animal count at 100

The server i am playing on has lag problems too - since the release, before it wasn't noticable.
On peak times it is often a stutter around every 5 steps.

And sometimes big stutters of up to 10+ seconds for the whole server

Well i have to say the newest patch from a few hours ago solved maybe no all spike lags but close to all.
Right after the release we had 64 ppl and not one single spike.
So what ever you did (other then the moose ofc) it is imo the best patch you guys have come up with in 5 month
