Locks - Steel vs Iron

Post by Zztong » 02 Feb 2015, 17:25

Is there a reason why constructing a Lock requires Steel instead of Iron, or even a Common Bar? The current situation pushes the construction of houses to late in the skill progression.

I think it is safe to say that historically people were building houses before they made steel. The game lets you build advanced armors out of common bars.

Maybe all this is rolled up in the larger topic of the availability of Flux. Sorry if I've missed a larger discussion. I searched for topics about Locks but got hits on locking skills.

I agree with this. I found myself desperate to finish my house construction so I could safely secure my belongings somewhere. However, the 3 doors needed required locks; which required steel, which required a bloomery, which required leather, etc... leading me through an extensive braid of skills to make my first lockable home.

Agree that it takes a little too much to make the locks.
