Summary of my uncertainties.

Post by Lukepop » 16 Jun 2014, 07:46

These questions have been piling up in my head so here they are, Four questions for the price of one thread

1.Will combat skills be path specific? E.g. could a “militia” style player learn to equip plate armour if his guild deemed him important/good enough and could he carry a 1h axe for close quarters?

2.Will Class counters be specific? E.g. if a militia force faced off against a force of cavalry and the militia are clumsy in their combat and positioning/ the cavalry use good tactics/ both will the cavalry win?

3.Will it be possible for people to enter the borders of another realm? E.g. a wandering architect or mercenary company.

4.Will there be interior politics and espionage? I mean Kingdoms will be multiple guilds so will it be a matter of assassinations, inter Kingdom battles and rebellions or just; Wow this guy is awesome I want him to be king forever and, Wow everyone in the kingdom are my best friends. (No offence intended, just the simplest way to put it)

1. Yes, he could if he wanted to.

2. Class counters are pretty specific, but that doesn't mean calvary couldn't beat militia.

3. Anyone can walk anywhere they please.

4. Yes, we're hoping it plays out that way.

1. Your only limit is the points you need to sink into the different trees. There is enough to mix between two trees. It definitely gets trickier if you want something more complex than that, though.

2. The classes arent hard counters, the different trees just merely gives access to weapons, abilities and armors that are effective against another tree. For instance the militia tree gets access to spears which is effective against cavalry. The reality is more complex than the militia hardcountering the cav and always winning, but he has an advantage.

3.Yes.

4. Ofcourse there will be, in the meta-game. I doubt we would see much of any in-game mechanics for this as they are hard to implement and often hindering more than helping.

I am sure there will be options for realms to leave Kingdoms, and there will be mechanics for war. That is basically all you need.

Your Almighty presence in this thread and other threads on the forums, is greater than any thing you "could" add. The simple fact that we know you are listening and care(maybe) is a huge bonus to the community, keep up the good work.

Sarcastic would be the word your looking for and no it is not that, I was being honest and genuine.

Its little things like coming on the forums and showing your existence that makes posting here seem worthwhile.

Also, it might be my word choice when I used Almighty and it was a polite gesture. Let me assure you, I see no man as greater than me, I envy no one, in fact, success makes me proud.

I am proud of Bobik and his accomplishments, and therefore, I called him Almighty. Plus he is like God of the game isn't he? Sometimes that's not an easy role to play, Success or Failure? One will happen inevitably.

I am here to doing my part to make it a succeed by giving my input and suggestions when I see fit.

Pure meta maybe. Assassinations might not work because we don't have permadeath and even if we had, leader of some guild can always start a new character and that will not lower his REAL leadership skills.
But other things will work the same way as they worked in all previous sandbox global politics games (Shadowbane, Eve, Darkfall etc.). I really suggest you to google for some epic stories from these games and you will be surprised how high temperature of human emotions rise while playing games with politics, assets destruction and a global warfare.

My suggestion on religion that includes how assassinations can become relevant:

We're on the same page on that matter. But it is a looong way till we have free hands to properly implement Pope and religion systems.
