If I die then I get returned to the newbie island? Then I have to pay to leave again? This happens repeatedly?

So you're telling me, that EVERY TIME I die it will cost me money and I will have to pay to leave the Island to resume play?

I am not into this idea, seems like it will cost A LOT of money. It sounds A LOT like WarZ/Survivor Stories which made you PAY for more lives if you died and look where that got them ,..

I am happy to pay a monthly fee at a push, or even a hefty £50 one off fee. But not pay everytime I die or pay everytime I want to leave 'newbie island'.

Nope. I had the same idea but nope. when your character dies you lose skillpoints depending on your alignment and all your equipment.

Yes, but will I have to go back to newbie island? Restart? And then pay AGAIN?

No, you will respawn at your home which will be on the main island. There is no perma death.

Okay, I understand. I just got a bad glimpse of what could've been there. I don't mind losing gear when I die but having to pay would piss me off indeed.

So, I gather that the newbie Island is where you learn the game, you pay to leave there and look for a village or some sort of home?

Right.
Once you're on the main island I think by default your home will be this starter town but you can reset it to any building on your claim later on.
