Basically its like this. Once you have played as many games as I have, and after disappointment over and over again, you begin to grow thick skin. Patients isn't even an issue. It has been countless times that I have waited months and in some cases years for a game to finally come out and after all the waiting, It only held my attention for a month or two.
I have began to see patterns in these games. They promise you ecstasy but you only get a sneeze. (a sneeze creates a sensation that is equal to 1 tenth of an orgasm)
Another one of these patterns is most of these games with promising features, true sandbox, are done by indie companies that unfortunately have limited funding.
So the end results almost always end the same way, broken promises, buggy games, rampant cheating and exploitations. By the time these low budget games companies can fix the problem it is far to late, people are long gone on to the next good enough thing.
These are some of reasons as to why I have learned not to get emotionally invested in to a game anymore. by this I mean excited. I mean I don't get me wrong, just like the rest of you here on these forums, I to love what I hear, and what features are to come, but it is up to the delivery of this product by its company that will make it a success or failure.
One thing I can say is, they are doing a great job so far, and they are making wise decisions, especially with their decision to release LiF:YO. This decision has the opportunity to break the patterns set by the many failed projects before them. (For those that don't like their decision to release YO first, stick to what you are good at, no disrespect intended. Sort of)
As I have stated in other threads, I am not a fan of the business model, but I don't have all the details of it. The information I have gathered from the forums, makes the model seems clunky and it could be cleaned up. Its over complicated and I just feel that they could achieve their goals with less confusion.
They shouldn't have to explain to every new person that comes along what your business model is.
1)Do I get a free main land character transfer when I buy the game?
2)Do I have to buy the game, then buy premium currency, then buy my character transfer, then get to the main lands?
3)When I buy the game do I get premium currency that I can use to buy the character transfer?
4)When an expansion is put out, do I have to buy premium currency and transfers for ALL of my characters?
5)If I buy LiF:YO do I get the MMO too?
6)If I buy LiF:YO do i get a free character transfer for the MMO?
in the MMO.
There are probably a half dozen more repeated questions. If people are asking these questions, the business model is clucky and over complicated and they need to reconsider and consider some things.
Final words, I am very excited for the potential of the game, but I CAN wait, and I'll play the forums until September-October, when we get to play YO. Oh, and DON'T release the MMO until it is DONE.
