65k sold copies

Post by Siegbert » 02 Oct 2014, 14:19

Don't know if you read it on facebook but LiF:YO sold 65k+ copies on Steam which might be roughly 10 times as much as I expected

So... I guess the funding for the MMO is there, right? :D

Wow! That's roughly 1,350,000 if you subtract 30% for steams part!

Well, they don't need to distract themselves with side projects anymore, so that's a start ;)

This should provide a good incentive for maybe hiring a few more programmers and speed up development process of the game.

Let's hope they use their money wisely.

I have had people recently join our guild/group from games like minecraft, xyson, and wurm and so far they have said that LiF has far exceeded their expectations and that LiF is incredibly fun!

Looking good so far!

Its well deserved, and I hope it motivated them to stay dedicated to the project and MMO release.

That's $1,560,000. Steam takes 40% from independant studios.

Guess there will be several MMO servers or a bigger map (assuming the majority of those people will transfer over to the mmo)

Why do they take more from indys then from big ones? That's not fair at all!

I am assuming it's because indy's are using steam as a broader kickstarter campaign, and to make sure the indy dev's are determined to follow through.

The sentiment is that Steam is doing all of the independant's marketing where the AAA studios do their own marketing.
