Paved Roads (0.2.1.0)

I rent a dedicated server and I can see the new paved road texture just fine (looks great, too). However, other people on the server are saying that there is still no texture for it and it's still just this dark abyss. Does anyone else have this issue?

The Paved Roads are a client side bug. You can fix it manually by renaming art\2D\Terrain\Roads\Paved_road\StoneRoadDiff.dds to StoneRoaDiff.dds, without the 'd'.

Update: My buddy renamed the file like you said but it didn't change the texture at all. Still just a black abyss.

Also, my paved-road file is StoneRoadDiff.dds and I can see the paved road texture.

AMD but that's not the issue

In one location on the map I can see the correct paved road textures. But I went back to the village we had set up and I also just see a black mass. I tried removing a piece of road and replacing it, but that still just put down a black mass. I'm going to try the fix mentioned above myself and see what I can find out.

Okay, then they changed the path to the original. What I posted was the initial bug.

So I did some testing on my own. In Area A, I can see the paved roads properly. In Area B, it is still a black mass.

I changed the file name to what you said, and both locations were a black mass. I changed it back, and it reverted to having Area A as a black mass still and Area B having actual paved roads.

Same problem here, all 4 players on my server have black roads.

Do me a favor Blackout. Go to an area at least 150 or so tiles away and pave a road. On my server it seems an area is glitched/corrupt. Everywhere but that location has actual paved roads.

So there seems to be some issue with an area I guess. Some sort of file corruption.

What buildings do you have in your base there? Maybe there is a building, or a claim issue that is causing this.

I have posted on Mantis about this as on our server it is the same, northern areas work fine but down south the pavers are still all black

Tired paving a road 50m away from our village - didn't work.
Weird behavior. Has someone posted it on Mantis?

Edit: Posted at the same time ;)

We live on the north and the roads around our village, old or new, are black. Around 500m west they are fine if build new.

I noticed one of those horrible tears in the terrain and that is where the texture stops working.

The planted farm land texture is only visible if the crops are planted in Fertile Soil, but the texture is all black if you plant on Soil.

I would guess it is the same for roads?
The texture is broken if the road is made is placed on a specific soil typy or something?

Also reading the thread, I didn't see mention of what type of road people were making. I would guess stone, but can you all confirm?

Well, I'm pretty sure building a road out of clay is not implemented yet since we aren't able to. So yeah, it's made out of stone. At least, I haven't gotten clay roads to work. Always tells me I need to have "30 of rock to do that".

I can confirm about that "tear" in the terrain. We worked on a road project that went from our village to a couple of other places and we found a tear. The road up to the tear (from our village) is black. Once we started paving roads beyond that tear, they had the paved road texture.

just to chime in, yep, does not work for us either.
Part of the map has paved roads,, then suddenly its black. then paved in another place etc et al.
Nobody messed with any files either.

I saw same situation. One side of "tear" is black while other side is proper road texture.

Some moron flagged my mantis report on this issue as a duplicate of another even though the other one was sent before the update. I noted on the the other one just now about it but seriously I'm giving up on this for a while so good luck guys and don't forget to report the issues on Mantis where they can be properly tracked!
