3rd person camera angle

Post by Siegbert » 20 Jun 2014, 20:42

I feel that currently the camera is set to high. I realize that it's comparable to Mount&Blade but in M&B the camera moves downward when pressing the free look button enabling you to see you whole character from head to toe.

I would suggest to either lower the camera by default or do the same thing M&B did with the free look button.

Otherwise the only way to view your gear is to look at it from above which I find kinda dumb.

If I remember correctly, players can also free-float their camera around their character.

It would be cool to be able to use the free-float to adjust the camera location, then bind it to the angle you want to see when you switch to third-person mode.

Or not, I don't know. Just something off the top of my head.

That's what I meant by the free look button. I believe it's "V" by default?

Here is what I meant (in Mount&Blade):

notice how you can view your whole character once you hold down the button.

*bump for hoping of response from devs*

also another point:

I noticed that currently the camera seems to be attached to the character's animations which results in heavy jiggling when performing an action like digging, or fighting. I find this really irritating.
Camera should be set on the character's pivot but either not follow the animations at all or make the effect way more subtle.

I've been thinking about what irritates me about the fighting sequences in this tutorial video

And I think it's the way the camera quickly kicks back when you die.

I think you're right. I've noticed the camera jiggling when performing crafting animations. It's really annoying. In fact, it makes me nauseous.

Please really consider changing this so that the camera does not shake.

I get motion sickness as a result of this and am unable to play the game. The camera indeed seems to be stuck to the character's animation. This game really needs some camera options.

A server config to disable 3rd person entirely would be welcome.
