So when I attempt to start the game, it goes through the "first time setup" just fine. It proceeds to launch the game, but as soon as the game's window attempts to open, it suddenly stops and gives me this popup:
c:\dev\cm\Engine\source\gfx/D3D9/gfxD3D9Device.h(71) :: Fatal
D3DERR_NOTAVAILABLE
Not available
GFXPCD3D9Device::init - CreateDevice failed!
It gives me two options: Retry and Cancel
If I click on Retry, this is what it says:
Use debugger?
D3DERR_NOTAVAILABLE
Not available
GFXPCD3D9Device::init - CreateDevice failed!
Would you like to use the debugger? If you cancel, you won't be asked again until you restart Torque.
So I click Okay rather than Cancel, which is when it crashes and gives me an Error Report stating that "LifeIsFeudal has stopped working"
Somewhat amusing and somewhat infuriating that LIF never actually started working. =l
If I click Cancel instead of Okay, it gives me this popup:
DirectX Error!
Failed the initialize Direct3D! Make sure you have DirectX 9 installed, and are running a graphics card that supports Pixel Shader 1.1.
This is where I'm thinking that I screwed up. I don't actually know what DirectX 9 is, nor do I know what Pixel Shader 1.1 is.
I think my graphics card is Intel(R) HD Graphics Family. I am running Windows 8. I have DirectX 11 installed. Is that okay or do I literally need DirectX 9 and not 11?
