I opened one of my boxes or chests, and, positioned to an axe, right-clicked and chose equip. Nothing happened.

I had to move it to my inventory to equip it.

Perhaps the "equip" menu option should be removed from items not in your inventory (if that's how it works).

P.S. I think all references to the word "hatchet" (meaning a small hand tool) should be changed to Axe, as there is no true hatchet anywhere in the game. This would help also in the confusion of thinking there are two different things such as: a hatchet for removing branches, and an axe for cutting down trees, when there's no hatchet.
