How do you update a server after a patch?

Steamcmd is not installed. I can stop/start the server and have access to MariaDB. How do I update the server?

I've always just added Steam, and let it auto-update. Not sure its possible to update otherwise.

No, in fact, except for shutting down the server and restarting, nothing is needed.

I usually logon via steam on my server, click the update button, it patches it. I then have to restart the server and that's it.
