It depends on the server settings. We have set the grow interval to 30, and after around 1 real life day the trees are crown .. not completely .. but planted apple trees have the first 2-3 apples on them.

Hope this info helps you a little bit.

Crafting period: 20
Animal breeding: 20
Plant Grow: 2.0

Server is an austrian server:

[AT] Ixolans LiF-Server #1

:)

With this setting trees are growing good .. smelting is fast but not too fast.

Is there some kind of special way trees need to be planted or something cause im having massive issues with tree growth, i have planted 30+ saplings in 1 day and it has now been 3 days (IRL) and nothing has grown, not even into a medium state.the crops grow fine but trees aren't at all. the server is set to growth 3.0

Having the same problem. Crops grow fine. Trees i planted days ago havnt budged. Thought it may be a climate problem since i planted them on top of the Mountain, but they dont grow by the lake either.

I made a test regarding tree growth speed.
On the server where I play the setting is 3.0 and it seems trees are not growing at all.

I set up my own server setting 1.0 and tried it with a Birch and a Pine tree.
Result after 8 houhrs a Birch grew fully to major, the Pine tree still was medium after 15 hours.

On the gaming server with setting 3.0 I now noticed that at least birch trees are growing (measures the size with my shovel). But after 3 days irl they still are minor size.

This leads me to:
1. Trees have very different growing speed (the better the slower)
2. I am not sure if the factor 3.0 means trees grow 3 times slower compared to factor 1.0 or maybe even more.

It took 5 days that would grow apple trees for one stage on the official server with 3.0 rate.

This makes alot of sense since the trees im relying on to grow are 90+ quality pine trees,

Trees groves in ticks like for example ore smelting. You have tick every 60 seconds and progress bar is filling up until ore is ready.

Same is with trees except that tick takes 3 hours (default) instead of 60 seconds.

Different trees have different amount of ticks required to grow. It depends of tree difficulty (most likely like with planting them).

I got my Forrester to cut ALL the tree below 85 quality.

By the time he done that is skill was 90.

I then got him to take the Sprouts only after he was 90 & only the 95+ Sprouts when he was 100.

Then he planted the sprouts.

Don't plant the Apples/mulberries tree unless you got Farming at the same level as the Sprouts or higher.

in a 48hr Period my 87 level Apple Tree where Minor tree with only 5 apples.

Did not check them till another 48hrs, BINGO! Major Apple Tree 87 Q.
50 Apples, 2 Sprouts etc.

Are Mulberry trees even in the game? I've not come across one. I was also thinking some trees I was growing were bugged, and then today *poof* - they were taller than I. :)

I am having issues with tree growth in my server too. Hoster is Blackboxservers.

I noticed in this thread people are talking about PlantGrowth as a server configuration attribute however when I look into my world_1.xml all I see is :

<craftingPeriod>
<animalBFPeriod>
<dayCycle>

Is the dayCycle the same as this PlantGrowth you are talking about?

My server's setting of dayCycle is at 1, this would mean 1h real life per day in game so trees should grow rather quick if this attribute description was true. However, the trees I planted 3 real life days ago have not grown an inch.

I think that playing on a 1 cycle or the quality of the sprouts may be the problem.
