I have a mine going and the iron ore is about 3 cells into the tunnel on the floor.

I have the Mining menu option from right clicking the tile but nothing happens.

I tried Dig Tunnel, nothing because its a floor tile.
I tried Dig Tunnel Downwards, and it grabbed some Iron and Rocks until the slope matched the joining tile.

So I am guessing I can't actually Mine the ore because its in the floor?

The only way to actually mine ore is if its a wall?

I've searched around but after reading through 10 pages, gave up on the search.

So why not dig another tunnel and try and come at the iron from another angle? If you tunnel down or at an angle, you still get the iron, just not the mining skill ups from it. I too think this is ludicrous, but as of right now, that's how it works. Be careful you don't dig a hole you can't get out of. Bring an extra pick in case you do.
