Lore questions

Post by SirWinston » 14 Jun 2017, 20:34

Hi,
I'm working on a video about Life is Feudal's lore, so I may come to you with a few more questions later. :D

In the Mythology introduction, a character named Taid Utrik is introduced as an "Initiate Accur" who gathers information about the past. What exactly is an "Accur" ? Where does the name come from ?

To save what's left of our ancient culture, an author, an initiate Accur named Taid Utrik, with Jarl Torismund's assistants entrusted to him, asked questions of many various kinds of people, asking them everything they remembered and documenting everything they told him.

Hi Winston.

Here is the most complete and accurate answer.

In general, Accur means a priest of the Sleeper's cult. The word itself is derived from Stridsmankur. The meaning of it is similar to "warrior monk" (apart from the fact that monks do not exist in the world of LiF).

The role of stridsmankurs was to be the keepers of faith and gather knowledge as well. They also were the bodyguards of the Sovereign and also named Astridsmankurs (with the the letter "A" in front that possibly means the first letter in Sovereign's name).

Today Astridsmankurs are just priests. They are not bodyguards and warriors anymore. "Astridsmankur" lost its former meaning and had been reduced to "Accur".
