linux/wine

Post by Dayde » 04 Jan 2015, 09:42

I am working on getting LiF:YO client running under wine on linux. Has anyone already gotten it to work? So far, I can log into a server, but the screen is blank (aside from the HUD).

If there is any interest in running in linux, feel free to comment.

I have been able to get the client installed through steam but it crashes when I try to open it.

I couldn't get it to start from Steam using Wine or Crossover.
Wine doesn't get past the installation of some required files (I haven't paid very much attention to which files, actually)
Crossover does, but kills the game within a second of launching from the Steam client. Like there's some kind of out-of-control copy protection.

Good point. It seems that dx11 is still work in progress, though I couldn't find a progress update after December 2015: https://www.codeweavers.com/about/blogs ... -didnt-lie

Does anyone got it running on Linux?

I tried with Ubuntu 18.04 and PlayOnLinux but I get an error on install.

I managed to install the game but the loading screen along with the login screen are black, so I can't log in, but I think the game client uses a web browser component that is not supported. Maybe using javaFX or even electron in the construction of the launcher could work
wine -v => man 2.9.0
