Shieldcover / Riding Arschers

Post by Faenor » 05 Mar 2018, 15:17

-Using Smallbows on a horseback riding archers (maybe after cavalerist)
-changing how the solider holding the shield

right now you cant protect with the shields your head or your feeds (towershield) when the enemy is above or below you.
An option to change that, when you look down the shieldarm can lean forward so that the lower point is fixed and only the higher part of the shield moves forward with the shieldarm. The same when you looking up there the lower part of the shield moves up and the higher part of the shield just moves a bit above the head.

right now as an shield user its sometimes more luck than skill. And against arrows its absolutly cancer cause arms head and feets are not coverd effectivly.

Shields can cover your head. Use a decently sized shield like a large kite or tower and look up. Your head will be covered.

If you are getting hit around your shield then you are angled so they can shoot you around your shield.

The best way to test this is have a friend hold each of the different shields in front of him. And test how they cover different things.
Don't build what you can't defend- Rule number 1.

Not lieing to you mate ;)
I m allready a towershield user and in many siegebattles and raids when the enemy archers had an higher position there where the posibility to get an arrow in the head even when you facing an archers directly straight forward above you while you leaning completly backwards. The reason is that arrows dont fly straight like bullets there is a little curve when they getting shot with a bow or crossbow.

So it is more luck than skill not getting hit by an arrow from the distance even as an towershield user.
