Armor Skills?

Post by Ramaraunt » 14 May 2014, 20:15

From reading the website, it looks like you wont be able to easily customize armor. For instance, you can't be a swordsman infantry that wields chain armor, because chain is a cavalry skill.

Actually that's not true, LiF is offering a lot of freedom in skilling your character in any way. You can make a hybrid of sort, you can level up War horse handling, then Chainmail armor skills and forget about other cavalry skills. So you will probably wanna spend max 180 (90 + 90) points in these and you can spend rest in whatever skills you want. So basicly you can have that swordsman infantry in chain armor, or for that matter an archer in plate armor. ;) There are lots of combinations you can try, and remember that you can always downgrade your skills and learn different ones, the only limit here is your statcap, which can be slightly increased with your base stats rising.

It is not really so =) Technically you can make a platemail arher but it will be useless because archery requres high agility for good damage, and due to that you strength and carried gear weight will suffer, making you immobile in heavy armor.

60 in warhorses + 90 in chainmail (150 total) is enough. + 4x90+1x60 (420 toal) in the skill tree of your choice. And you will have 30 free points (with 10int) and a charater in chainmail. :D

Check the skills calculator in guides section.

So you have to sacrifice skill points to do this? That would kindof suck.

Not entirely sure about spending points on skills I wont use, just to reach the next skill, especially going up to 60 just to have full access to the next skill.

But I'll just have to wait and see how it works when I get the chance.

This is the best way to have a balance pvp, no one will be able to RUN in a plate armor and the same time throwing a lots of arrows than jumping on his war horse full plate and finishing you with 2H sword in a hand a polearm in the other!

Yep, while the game is offering unlimited combinations as for combat skills, skillcap is preventing players from creating overpowered hybrids ;)

don't understand what a chainmail armor has to do with calvary itself, chainmail armor should be in armor skills, not calvary lol.

He would be slow and expensive. Don't see much of OP here TBH. But ofc a full unit of those in a castle wall breach should be able to hold for some time. And will be able to hold even more if there will be some padded pikeman in the rear to help with damage dealing.

Perhaps so but with nearly 90 on most things it's impossible also.

On a strategical note, Just stab the knights with pikes of your own.
