So day and night cycle actually is activated. When I was in the game yesterday it felt like it's just set to night time. Maybe the cycle is a little too long.

It is 1:6 ratio, aka full in game day/night cycle takes 4 real hours.

4 hours seem like a good time for the full cycle. Gives you enough time to do any night operations that may take an hour or so including travel time.
