True.
But compared to many it still lacks out, but there are quite a few "equal bad" ones too, but thats compensated in some way.
The problem is, that gold can be found in other ways. It isn't a mini small chance to produce something really special or more rare.
Some probability math:
230 days after reaching skill 100 and using it each day, there will still be 10% of people with skill 100 who haven't had a success with transmuting iron into gold.
And a small list of other 100 point specials:
There are 7 skills that enable you to craft something that cant be made otherwise (even if it is just optical, it is something very special)
And other 12 skills get a +5 luck bonus - of course luck can be got else too, but is something that helps you whenever you do something influenced by it. And its a noticeable difference.
5 get a minimal bonus for special things to happen. Really small chance - but its something special you get out of it.
1 has slightly increased range (That one looses out too, in my opinion)
1 has less metal waste - useful I'd say, in a world of finite resources, and works always when recycling
1 increases range manyfold for one resource (9 tiles instead of one)
1 has more durable beams (Sounds like another one loosing out, but might be useful for some)
1 increases its 90 ability a bit - a bit more luck for all around.
1 works once on average in a 100 days - and produces a normal material.
